Polstead Art Group
The Polstead Art Group has now been in existence for 21 years which we celebrated with an Art Exhibition in Polstead Village Hall on the 22nd and 23rd October.
The Art Group was started by a group of like-minded friends who enjoyed painting and who wished to spend time together in a friendly atmosphere, trying to improve their artistic technique together. Without the forethought of these people, we would not be in the position we are today with a weekly gathering of about fifteen plus people enjoying painting with all different art mediums. We are not a group who has a tutor; we learn from one another, so new members who wish to join us, please do not feel intimidated. We are a friendly group of mixed abilities some of whom have more experience than others, and are always willing to help their fellow members develop and improve their own technique. More importantly, one of the main reasons the group still exists, is that it gives individuals the chance to meet others, giving everyone the chance to make new friends.
The "Art Group" meets on a Tuesday afternoon from 2pm until 5pm at the Polstead Village Hall. Each week we ask for a payment of £2 which goes towards all of our expenses, (with the first taster week being free!) which also includes a refreshment break.
We have now expanded the group to also include other forms of Crafts. So we now have people who come along and enjoy doing cross stich, knitting, applique art and crochet. We would like to encourage others to come along and share their experiences with other forms of Arts and Craft. It is hoped that this will give more people the opportunity to learn another craft themselves, as well as having a chat.
So why not come along and give it a go!
Get yourself out of those four walls for the afternoon and try something new, come and enjoy the company of others.
